  • stop cutting teachers. we need them our kids need them. people try to keep kids away from drugs and other bad things. we need to keep them busy and for that we need more art, and sport programs. we also want them to become some one, and for that we need our teachers. smaller classes can help them to get better grades and learn faster. its every body work “to try to keep our teacher”. its our kids future

  • Healthy schools need healtlhy families and healthy communities. No more cuts to education and social services. The wealthy need to repay what they have grabbed from the public. Tax their wealth. No more subsidies and loopholes.

  • I have watched how the budget cuts effected my son’s education, and now that I am back in College, am very aware of the strains on the budget. Please do NOT create more budget cuts for education…education helps us to get off of the ‘Train of Ignorance’.

  • These attacks on public employee unions are part of a stated Republican strategy that has been going on for decades now: “Starve the Beast” means cutting taxes (and, as now, vetoing any attempt to re-raise them) until deficits are large enough cut otherwise too-popular programs.

The bottom line: there is no shortage of money. The GDP is actually larger than before the “Great Recession.” Anyone who says we’re running out, it’s emergency, we have to cut, cut, cut!… They’re liars.

  • I am dedicated to my teaching career as a special education teacher. I can’t seem to understand WHY I recently completed my Masters in Special Education and I am NOW making LESS than I did THREE YEARS ago – WITH MY MASTERS…. Helloooo….

  • Why are teachers the easy scapegoat? Most of us spend our lives investing in the future of society, at lower pay than others of equal education, under difficult circumstances and then get blamed for all the ills of society? Let the politicians try to teach my classes for a day or a week and see if they still think this is an “easy” job. I love my students; I love my job, but I am tired of being the punching bag for all the right wing politicians who want cookie cutter “consumers” and not “citizens!”

  • I am an educated native Californian who is proud of her education.
Can my students, will my students, say the same?
Are we able to give our future a substantial base for success? The rich can’t run a country without the rest of us, or we become the problem instead of the answer. Fund public education for America.

  • I have been teaching 30 years. In the last 5 years I have seen teachers go through the lay off process, massive budget cut backs, and not to mention no salary increase for myself for the last 8 years. It’s time to stop bleeding education dry. Don’t let it slip by that this is the future of our state we are administering the wound to!

  • As a long-time native of California and from an educators family, I am sorely disappointed that our politicians have allowed for our school system to be defunded and considered one of the lowest performing in the country. I invite politicians from both parties to visit our classrooms to see what we do despite the cuts.

  • The State needs to get their act together and do right by our students and stop with all these budget cuts.
